What is ART & DESIGN .......

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about art and design is a form of expression without any limitations or boundaries. Art is also a very personal way of expression as its not always that others understand art but the person who makes it, in other words its your own personal language. Art has no limitation or boundaries. People often say putting limitation or boundaries to art is as good as a crime. One can use any form, medium, method, style etc. for art. Each individual has their own meaning, method, form and style of practicing art.

I personally see art and design interrelated or maybe Design is art that makes itself useful. Each can be used with the other. I feel design is a major factor in our lives. Everything around is what it is only cause of a design involved in it. Design shapes our lives in other words. Design is directed towards human beings. To design is to solve human problems by identifying them, examining alternate solutions to them and then later choosing and executing the best solution. Design and art not only contributes to the quality of life but it also constitutes the quality of life.

And that is why I like art and design....

have fun with them

Yet another fun day during Creative Thinking!  :) 

We were all stuck on Spook's Island that day and we had to blend in with the rest of the monsters to prevent ourselves from getting eaten. 

So the fun begins... How do we blend in? 

Each of our groups brought mahjong paper, cellophane paper, egg cartons, string and garbage bag. 

Then we had certain rules like, example, the monsters can only have 1 eye, 3 fingers, long hair..

Sadly I was not the one being dressed up. I was a fairy godmother for the day and I had to transform my group mate into a monster! 

TA-DAAAAA! I transformed my friend, Carlyn into a monster!!

 

Her eyes are covered using garbage bag, covered her face with cellophane paper, drew an eye on a mahjong paper and pasted it on the egg carton on her chest, wrapped her body with garbage bag and made pants for her, so she can run easier, and also her feet to prevent them from stepping on sharp objects and to keep it cleaned until she somehow escapes from Spook's Island!

I find this monster transformation the scariest among all. There  were fingers poking out of her face, you couldn't even see her face, her body was totally covered with garbage bag with red cellophane paper. How scary is that? 

These were the other monsters in class. I'd say that everyone really did a great job! really outstanding! I love my class!! <3

Can't wait for next lesson!!!! I had super loads of fun! i enjoyed the creepy soundtrack that was being played in class! :)

3d final work

Soon it will mark the end of our visual arts common foundation.

Today is the submission date for our 3D models. Never had the class been so early in class before. 

Today everyone was here way before assessment started to prepare to paste on the assessment paper on our models. Never had I seen the whole class so early before.

It kept me thinking for awhile about the uncertainty future holds. But whatever it is, I have got really good classmates and I am surely going to miss them. 

That aside. The models my classmates came out with were very thought invoking.

Farhaan's Juxtaposition of rockets and knives with color pencils and feathers. 

I love this the most as it uses color pencils to bring about an effect of juxtaposition. It tells the message of instead of war why not settle things in a happier and peaceful way.

And this is my final work for 3d fundamentals. An old box and a new packaging can be related to a humble rich man, a fierce-looking kindsoul, or a skinny but high cholesterol patient and etc. People nowsadays, tend to prefer their appearance, but overlook their inner characteristic. “don’t judge the book by its cover”, so I hope we all can understand the meaning behind my works and think twice before you make judgment. On the other hands, we also should not bother about other people, we just do the way ourselves and be ourselves. 

Not in the pink of health

Haaa..chooi!!!! I waked up this morning and keep sneezing non-stop. My mum asked me to go clinic to see doctor.

When i arrived at clinic, the clinic was so crowded. There were children with parents, teenagers coughing, elderly came for body check up. My queue no was 57 and that mean there are 6 people in front of me seeing doctor.

I noticed there are posters on the wall of the clinic. Some posters shows different types of diseases like diabetes, cancer, high cholestrol and etc. Some posters shows heath tips to maintain a healthy life and a balanced diet.

The quote "Prevention is better than cure" ring a bell to me when i saw it on one of the posters. The reason i caught cold is because I didn't go shower after drenched by the yesterday's heavy rain. I realized that i didn't take as many fruits every time my mother asked me to eat. I suddenly feel guilty of myself for not listening to my mother's advice.

Some people get cancer also because they didn't lead a heathy lifestyle although it is advised by doctor. They smoke and drink alcohol and get addicted to it. Not only these activities harm our body, it also cost a lot of money and even more when they need to see doctor and have medicine and treatment. I understand they smoke and drink because they are too stressed but they can relieve stress by doing other healthy activities such as jogging or playing badminton.

drive fast die fast

I got my driving license last year when I graduated from Secondary school. Since then, I become the “driver” of the family. My parents always asked me to fetch my brothers to school, to tuition, to badminton class, to friend’s house etc.  Today I fetched my brother to school as normal as I don’t have class that day.

When we passed around one round-about, a dog run out of the road and the car in front of me suddenly stopped. I hit the brake immediately and turn to other side. I thought I have hit the dog but the dog suddenly turn back to the roadside. Lucky I didn’t hit the dog. My brother and I was so afraid after that.

Driving can be very convenience in Malaysia, as mentioned in my previous post because bus always have to wait for very long.  But there is a saying in Chinese, “ ma lu ru hu kou”  To translate, it means road is like a mouth of tiger. Many accidents had happened in the road. There are also a lot of advertisements to ask people to drive carefully on the road.

I feel that we should drive carefully on the road and think of our family member. “If you drink, don’t drive. If you drive, don’t drink”. These are simple message but we always forget easily when we are too happy and too enjoy ourselves at the party.

SAM

Today our class lesson at Singapore Art Museum (SAM).That is a inquisitive day for me because it is my first day visit Singapore Art Museum.The first impression for me is odor of arts in this museum,that is a lot of art work from many famous artist.

There are also a unusual laser in the museum.This laser changed position when we pass through.Many of us felt curiously and walk around in that laser room.Art not only in drawings or paintings,maybe sometimes they also playing around high technology.

Enter deeply,i saw a wall with a lot of somethings in red color like blood,that is so terrible.I think that is using spray paint or lacquer to puff on the wall.

What is the meaning with a lot of bottle sloping side?I am confused.Maybe the artist trying to say about human?animals?or non-living things?

This part is the most interesting part,that is a lot of small round cards to let us display our creative,some people using this cards to make a wish,make a smile face and etc.That is a lot of interesting words or faces on the wall.

After we walk around the museum,our literature call us gather around this art work which is made by real human hair.We shocked when we realize that is made by human real hair because that is unbelievable . Our tasks today is created a own favorite hairstyle.It is very funny and interesting while we are doing our own favorite hairstyle,someone do it with logical some not,that is why our class called creative thinking.

repackaging people product

After last weeks that we chosen a packagings which is unpleasant to our eyes,our class had created a new packaging with our creative for those product.There are a few interesting and special packagings made from us and look much better than before.

This packaging actually is a potato chips.This group repackage it to make things easy for people.People can pinch the cover and start enjoy their potato chips.This design also can put a little bit more potato chip and it will not wasted space.

Bored chocolate was out fashioned,this chocolate bean packaging design show that what favorite inside and it became smaller and more easy to bring it out.Interesting font are also attract people than before.

This is the design from my group mate and i.We design this waffles chocolate from bored packaging to interesting.It also make easy for people know what is the product inside because we changed the text and the pattern outside.This design make whole entity to look more delicious and obvious.

This is also another design from our friend,they design this seaweed with cute logo and that is a zip on the top of packaging to let people can eat anytime also stop eating and keep it anytime.

This  cigarette box design are very outstanding because that is a new packaging for cigarette also.All cigarette box print out with many warning sign.This product can be repackaging with cigarette box because although snacks is very delicious and glutton,but too much of this kind of snacks are also cause disease and harm our body.

Today is a very interesting class because we can repackage many product which is unpleasant to our eyes.Design is a mighty work because people just get through design of the packaging,they will realize that what product is it and also what kind of things that they were chosen.

friends

When I grow up,I felt that friendship become a very important thing in my life.If I lose the friends,I lose the support and encouragement from the friends when I felt sad.Friends always influence our attitude and the thinking of us.

Choosing a good friend is a vital step in deciding the correct way of life.Friends stick together without measuring race,religion,character and others.Our bond will become stronger and more closely with each other due to the one call Friendship.

Friendship is one mind in two bodies.It is also the gift of God that I will very appreciate it in my life.It is the one without value but a precious thing to everyone.We cannot look lightly on it because it is treasured for all of us forever.What that 'friends' really mean?Friends is that who always back up of us included family members,they are also able to be our friends,even best friends.We always share our emotions and share our experience to each other.Our life without friends,we cant understand many things in our life,so we should care more about our friends surroundings us.

smoking without benefit

Last week,I heard a news about a uncle"friend death due to the lung cancer.Since I had knew the news,I started to hate smoking.Smoking had triggered a serious sickness such as lung cancer,it will take off our life in a moment.

Study after study has revealed that smoking brings about many disadvantages to us.It kills us,spend us a lot of money and our time get along with our lovely family.It is a oblivious fact that smoking has ruin our teenagers"future when they choose to start smoking.

Health is wealth.Life is only once so that we need to live it with the happiness instead of smoking.I hope that the smoker can stop smoking to save their life and the money.Smoking not only destroy our body,it also destroyed our relationship between family,even wasted money.When we are in stress,we should not have smoke,we should find some better way to release our stress like playing sports with family,this is not only help us to release stress or pressure in work,it is also get closer than we family.Smoking never help us,it kill us.

The star online shop (This is not a advertisement)

After SPM, my friend and I decided to start an online business on Facebook to earn some pocket money.

We chose Facebook because it is social media that is widely used by many online users nowadays especially teenagers which is the targeted customer we want to reach to. I feel that many teenagers are too obsessed with Facebook. They spent most of the times surfing Facebook, checking friend's status, posting photos, sharing their moods and even relationship status.

There are many things that we needed to consider before starting that.We discussed and found some guidelines by asking the one who experienced in this work to start a online business.

Many problems that we met in the process as we tried to rack our brains to curb it.We had spent a lot of time to upload the photos of the product and the description to Facebook for the easy reference of the customers. Price is also an important things we thought about it.

When the Facebook users visited our page,they will ask by message us privately for more information about the products. We met different types of customer online. Some of them make us feel frustrated when they ask a lot of question without buying anything in the end. Some of them delayed their payment after placing the order.  We also have to put up some promotion to attract customer.

Although we didn't earn much from this business due to the competition we faced from other online seller from facebook and other platform such as ebay, Taobao etc, but i feel that it was a meaningful time that we passed due to the gain of the experience in business.

Although there are many difficult problem faced by us but we still have a positive thinking to solve them."Never give up" is always our quote.

Ah ma's birthday

We celebrated my grandma's birthday every year. We invited all the relatives to join the celebration and fixed a date for everyone to come and gather. We will go to a nice restaurant and have a good dinner which after that, we will celebrate with a cake at home.

This year round, we celebrate grandma's 80th birthday. My aunt even come back from Australia for this celebration. My 2nd uncle come from Kuala Lumpur and my youngest aunt come back from Singapore. My father decided to have something different. We ordered catering buffet at home instead of going out to have dinner. The buffet was very sumptuous. It had chicken satay, fried rice, mee hoon, watermelon, and drink.

My uncle brought firecracker to start off the celebration. Everyone was happy.

We sang "Happy Birthday" song to my grandma. She was very happy that everyone is present to celebrate. It was difficult to fixed an available date for everyone to be available. But most of them are willing to sacrifice their time and travel all the way here to celebrate although it is just for a day. I feel that it was a day filled with love and warmth with family around. Family always act a a pillar of strength and back up for us no matter what happen.

We bought a fruit cake and had eight candles on the cake.

After that, we took photos one family by one family.

I was taken care by my grandma since I was born as my parents were busy working in Singapore and only came back during weekend. Therefore, my relationship with my grandma is the closest. I confide and share my thought and mood with her. I hope she will stay healthy and happy forever.
